Screen Printing Software: FilmMaker RIP
Screen Printing Software for Top Quality Separations
Still think you need an expensive image setter or awkward screen printing software to achieve high quality colour separations fast?
Inkjet printer + FilmMaker = Imagesetter Quality
FilmMaker screen printing software, formerly branded as FastRIP, can achieve near image setter quality at high speed when combining a compatible printer with variable dot technology with this unique and cost effective postscript interpreter.
What kind of screen printing software is a RIP?
FilmMaker is a postscript interpreter or raster image processor (RIP). Think of it as a whole new printer driver, designed especially for screen printers. Giving you control over the most crucial aspects of creating the very best quality film separations directly from an inkjet printer.
This type of screen printing software allows output direct from design applications such as Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and many more.
FilmMaker - A new Generation of RIP
While RIP technology is not uncommon screen printing software, the variable dot technology offered by FilmMaker is unique and patent pending. It is specifically aimed at screen printers and results in high quality prints, superior tonal transitions within images, faster print speeds and increased productivity.
A variable dot RIP is essential to this level of quality. Most RIPs cannot achieve this – they use the simple method of either printing the dot or not. Compare this to FilmMaker’s ability to interpret three levels of density per pixel and you have three times the scope to produce high quality halftone film positives.
How Does Variable Dot Technology Benefit Me?
Imagine a single halftone cell, made up of 25 pixels. The maximum number of shades in this cell would be 25. Remember, traditional RIPs will either print the dot or not, so each of the 25 pixels are either on or off. You could increase this number by increasing the DPI that you print at, which would increase the number of pixels per halftone cell. However, doing this would also increase the amount of time it would take to print each film positive.
Using the FilmMaker RIP, each of the pixels in a cell can achieve three dot sizes, so this enables us to increase the number of shades for each halftone cell from 25 to 75, all without influencing the print speed.
FilmMaker allows you to unleash the full potential of your variable dot halftone printer, allowing you to create superior halftone separations in less time guaranteed*.
